Benjamin Hebbert Violins

Bharat Khandekar

A fine contemporary violin by Bharat Khandekar, 2023

I don’t have a video for this instrument yet. Until I make one, here is a short film that I commissioned in 2016 as part of the Yehudi Menuhin Centenary to help support Newark School of Violin Making, co-founded by him in 1972. If you would like to extend your support of the school, please like and share this video as the exposure is incredibly important in raising awareness of this precious institution.

Description

A fine contemporary violin by Bharat Khandekar, 2023

Bharat Khandekar enjoys a highly respected reputation amongst violin makers and restorers for his exceptional understanding and ability in producing copies of Cremonese instruments. For me it’s a privilege to be able to offer an example of his work for sale. His favoured way of working is within the very improvisatory late style of Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesu, taking an amaglamation of influence from the Russian State Collection violin of 1742, the Baron Heath from 1743 and the 1744 Leduc and Sainton violins in order to produce compelling original instruments that might well have emerged from the latter years of del Gesu’s workshop.
